In particular, we are drawn to the Tempranillos and the Nebbiolos, many of which trump the majority of N.Californian red wines we've tried. We are primarily Cab and Malbec drinkers (the bigger, the darker the red, the better) and we are fortunate to live a short 5 hour drive to Guadalupe Valley in Ensenada, Mexico where a large portion of brilliant Mexican wines are produced. Who has the best wine and liquor selection and is open in those early hours of the morning? Last year we stayed in Playa Del Carmen so we took a trip to La Europea (they don't open until 11am on Saturday) they were great, but this year we are staying in Akumal so I'd rather just stop on our way there, than making an extra trip. So, we've arranged with our transport to stop in Playa Del Carmen (we will be arriving on a Saturday between 9:30am-10:30am) and Mom suggested Sam's Club (she has a club card). This drives hubby nuts.not the sharing, but the extray heavy bag - perhaps because he is the one hauling it. Yes, an entire suitcase filled with bottles of wine that have been carefully placed in plastic bags and bubble wrapped to the max (I have also been known to share my wine with other hotel guests). Normally I would just check-in a bag of wine onto the plane. My Mom enjoys a good whiskey over ice after dinner and again.our resort just doesn't offer a good selection. I enjoy a good glass of red wine with dinner and our resort's selection is often lacking.
